Do I really need fitness equipment to build muscles?
Yes, and no...  Many of the exercise equipment you see advertised on TV and in magazines does offer a great advantage, but you just can't buy the discipline you need to become a bodybuilder.  Start with getting in shape by doing stretching exercises, running, skipping rope, sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, etc., then you may decide if the next step is to join a gym, or buy home fitness equipment.  Many people buy fitness equipment with the hopes that it will make them muscular in no time, and often get discouraged because you need to already be in shape to lift, or bench-press heavy weights.  Don't forget the special diet you'll need to follow to make the most of your training, it too plays an important role in the healthy development of muscle tissue, and building stamina.  If you're not sure about your propensity for bodybuilding, you may want to read a book, or consult a physician.  Better yet, visit your local gym.  Good luck!
